J.S. Wooley and the Adirondacks
Richard Timberlake and Phil Terrie
7:00 pm – 8:30 pmJoin the Hyde Collection at Wiawaka to learn about their latest exhibition J.S. Wooley: Adirondack Photographer presented by the editors of the book Richard Timberlake and Philip G. Terrie. In 1880 a young energetic thirteen year-old farm boy from Saratoga County NY began his journey into the newly developing industry of photography and would soon become the “Village Photographer” in Ballston Spa NY.In the early years he would become a postcard photographer, as most did, but as technology changed along with the American culture, Wooley would adapt and grow. His skills as a photographer were sharpened by working at Silver Bay, Lake George in the summer months. His skills and artist eye would take him across American to World Fairs, national parks, and eventually overseas. He traveled extensively recording each trip. Returning home with many foreign images he then created the popular lantern slide shows and lectures.
This is an evening to honor his life and work.
Tickets are $10.
